The first thing we want to do is sketch a line where you’d like the liquid level. Then we’ll create a split line. To do this go to Insert, Curve, Split line. In this example, we want to project the sketched line onto the inner surface.

Next, we’ll create a plannar surface. To do this, select the edge that we just created with the split line and go to Insert, Surface, Planar.
The last step is creating the “liquid”. To do this we want to knit the planar surface we just created with the inside surfaces of the bottle. Go to Insert, Surface, Knit and select all the surfaces and check the box marked “try to form solid“

That’s it..! You now should have 2 Solid Bodies in your feature tree. I would recommend naming these to “bottle” and “Water” so you can easily select them to check the volume.
Well, I thought I’d give this “blog” thing a try. I’ve been reading most of the SolidWorks blogs for a long time now and thought its my turn to give a little back to the SW community. My focus on this blog is to talk about anything SolidWorks. From Tips and Tricks to new tools and gadgets that will make your life easier. So enjoy..!!
